What does the word diet mean to you?
The word actually comes from the Greek word “diata”which means “way of life” and represents a notion of a whole way healthy lifestyle including both mental and physical health. For many people now however, it means following a specific restrictive food plan, often timed in order to lose weight. It feels difficult and negative, something to be endured.
The plain facts are that if you want to drop body weight or more specifically body fat you will need to be in a calorie deficit – that is eating and drinking less calories than you use on a daily basis.
There are lots of different ways to achieve this and there is no magic diet or eating plan, but we can make it easier based on your preferences and knowledge of what has and hasn’t worked before. The right diet or eating plan is the one which can work for you consistently. For example most people can lose weight quite easily by eating 3 main meals which are protein led and cutting out snacks and nutritionally empty food.
I’ll guide you on how to be in a steady and achievable deficit. The deficit won’t be enormous, it will be enough that you don’t feel restricted and no foods or groups will be excluded. With consistency you will be able to steadily and happily lose weight without being hungry.
I will work out your BMR (basic metabolic rate) and your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) and from here we will agree a realistic and achievable deficit. Each week at check-in we will review your calories and macros (protein,fats,carbs) from the previous week.
Ideally you will be tracking daily which will give us great detail to discuss and measure.

There will be sacrifices, it wont be quite the same, it can’t be, or you will stay the same, but what I promise you is that it wont be unpleasant or difficult. I will teach you to re-evaluate your food choices and portion sizes to fit in with your lifestyle.
